Morning - Travel & Arrival

Your corporate retreat begins with the journey south. Whether your team travels by SGR train from Nairobi - a scenic four-and-a-half-hour coastal rail experience in itself - or flies directly into Moi International Airport, your Kent Corporate Travels coordinator will be on the ground to receive you. No confusion, no waiting. Just a smooth welcome and a vehicle transfer to Reef Hotel.

Check in, settle in, and take thirty minutes to feel the coast. The Indian Ocean is right there.

Late Morning - Fort Jesus & Old Town Mombasa

After a light welcome lunch at the hotel, your guided Old Town experience begins. Fort Jesus is the anchor. Built by the Portuguese in 1593 and now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the fort carries five centuries of coastal history within its coral-stone walls. Your guide brings it alive - the Arab traders, the British colonial era, the Swahili culture that absorbed it all and emerged with its own distinct identity.

From the fort, the tour moves into the narrow lanes of Old Town proper. Past Swahili carved doorways, old mosques, fragrant spice stalls, and the easy rhythms of a neighbourhood that has existed on its own terms for centuries. This is Mombasa before the resorts. And for a corporate team, it is perspective - a reminder that the world is old and layered and endlessly interesting.

Afternoon - Haller Park Nature Walk

From history to nature. Haller Park is Mombasa's quiet marvel - a rehabilitated quarry turned thriving ecosystem, home to Rothschild giraffes, hippos, crocodiles, vervet monkeys, waterbuck, and an impressive variety of birds. It is gentle, beautiful, and genuinely surprising. Your team walks the forested trails together, feeding giraffes by hand, watching the hippos doze, and discovering that Mombasa has far more layers than sun and sand.

Evening - Harbour Dhow Cruise & Dinner

As the sun drops, your group boards a traditional dhow for a sunset cruise along Mombasa Harbour. The old dhow routes once carried ivory, spices, and traders between Arabia and East Africa. Tonight they carry your team, a cold drink, and a horizon turning gold above the water. It is one of those company packages moments that no team-building workshop can manufacture.

Dinner is at Reef Hotel - a spread of Swahili coastal cuisine. Fresh grilled fish, coconut rice, pilau, tamarind prawns. The kind of meal that ends a day properly.

Morning - Mombasa Marine National Park

Day two begins early, on the water. Mombasa Marine National Park is one of Kenya's original marine protected areas, established in 1968, and its coral reefs remain among the most intact on the East African coast. Your group boards a glass-bottomed boat, peers down at the coral gardens, then slips into the warm Indian Ocean for a guided snorkelling session.

The reef is alive with parrotfish, angelfish, sea turtles, and starfish. For some of your team it will be their first time snorkelling. For others it will feel like returning home. Either way, it works. There is something about being in the ocean together - slightly outside your comfort zone, slightly breathless - that builds trust between colleagues faster than any structured exercise can.

Mid-Morning - Bamburi or Nyali Beach

After the marine park, your group transfers to the beach for unstructured time. Bamburi and Nyali are Mombasa's finest stretches of coast - white sand, calm turquoise water, casuarina shade trees. This time belongs to your team. Swimming, beach volleyball, a walk along the waterline, or simply lying flat and staring at the sky. Kent Corporate Travels structures the first day with intent. The second morning, we step back and let the coast do what it does.

Afternoon - Swahili Market & City Exploration (Optional)

For teams with energy to spare before departure, an optional exploration of Mombasa's city centre markets rounds out the retreat. Marikiti Market - vegetables, spices, the raw commerce of a working port city. Biashara Street - kangas, kikois, Swahili fabrics, and the kind of honest local craft shopping that makes for meaningful gifts. Your guide knows where to go and, more importantly, where not to overpay.

Late Afternoon - Farewell Lunch & Transfer

The retreat closes the way it should: around a table, at the hotel, with a meal and a moment to acknowledge what the two days have been. Then transfer to the airport or SGR station for the journey home. Your team returns to Nairobi changed in the small but important ways that only a genuine change of scene can produce. Rested.
